A sinogram is a visual representation of raw data acquired during a Computed Tomography (CT) scan. It is constructed by stacking one-dimensional projection profiles captured at sequential rotation angles. Typically, the horizontal axis represents the detector position (channel), while the vertical axis represents the rotation angle.
Because a single point within the scanned object traces a sinusoidal path across the detector as the object rotates, the resulting image constitutes a sine wave pattern, giving it the name "sinogram." This data is the foundation for image reconstruction algorithms and is also critical for verifying the center of rotation and mechanical alignment of the CT system.
