Multi-Planar Reconstruction (MPR) is a standard visualization technique in Computed Tomography (CT) used to generate cross-sectional images from volumetric data. While CT scans are acquired in a specific sequence, MPR allows operators to virtually slice the object on arbitrary planes to inspect internal features.
In industrial applications, the standard MPR display shows three orthogonal cross-sections simultaneously: the top (X-Y), front (X-Z), and side (Y-Z) views. These are typically arranged in a four-quadrant layout, with the fourth window presenting a 3D volume rendering or a user-defined oblique slice. This method enables detailed analysis of defects and geometries that may not align perfectly with the scanning axis.
