Reverse engineering is the process of analyzing a physical object to extract its design information and recreate it as a digital model, such as a 3D CAD file. In computed tomography (CT), this is achieved non-destructively by scanning an object to capture its complete internal and external geometry. The resulting data is used to reproduce parts without original drawings, analyze product designs, or perform quality assurance by comparing a manufactured part to its design data.
