Compact bipolar power supplies for electromagnet

Production and sales of the DOM series ended in September 2020. However, we continue to provide technical support and repair services for existing units.

Suitable for precise control of magnetization and demagnetization by electromagnet!

The DOM series is a four-quadrant bipolar power supply featuring a high-efficiency switching design and power regeneration capability. Despite its high power output, the unit is housed in a compact chassis, made possible by our advanced switching technology.
It offers four-quadrant operation capable of both sourcing and sinking current, making it ideal for the magnetization and smooth demagnetization of electromagnets. The user-friendly front panel allows for easy setting of output voltage and current.

Key Features

  • Compact High Power: Delivers up to ±125 A in a compact 3U height chassis.
  • Precision Control: Four-quadrant operation ensures fast and precise control for inductive loads.
  • Energy Efficiency: The power regenerative function recycles energy back to the grid*, reducing heat generation and power consumption.
  • High Reliability: Features low ripple, high stability, and comprehensive protection circuits for safe operation.

* Designed on the assumption that regenerated power is consumed within the local facility grid.

Applications

Control of electromagnet, testing for in-vehicle electrical components and various motors, evaluation test for solar panel and film formation (electroplating)

Note on Battery Applications: The DOM series is not designed for battery charge/discharge testing. For battery evaluation applications, please contact us for information on our dedicated battery cycle testers and bidirectional power supplies.

Tech Notes

Capacitive Loads

When driving a capacitive load exceeding 100 pF (including stray capacitance from output cables), output resonance may occur. To prevent this, install a high-voltage resistor in series with the output (e.g., 100 Ω at 0.1 μF to 1000 Ω at 1000 pF). Note that adding a series resistor will limit the frequency bandwidth, as shown in the formula.
Corona Discharge Applications
Applications such as corona discharge may generate surge currents exceeding the rated output, potentially damaging the amplifier. In these cases, strictly limit the current and install an appropriate output resistor for protection.

* Please avoid continuous inputting of high frequency signal which reduces output frequency of an amplifier. An amplifier will be broken because of increase of internal loss.

This image explains frequency band when a capacitive load is connected.
