The common terminal for the analog remote control is internally connected to either the positive or negative output terminal (sense/load), or to the product's enclosure (chassis ground). When the common is connected to the positive output terminal, it is referred to as "positive common." Conversely, when it is connected to the negative output terminal, it is called "negative common." Connecting the common terminals of a positive common product and a negative common product together will create a short circuit across their outputs. This will cause severe damage to the products and lead to failure. To prevent such issues, some products feature an analog control interface that is galvanically isolated from the power supply's output. This design provides enhanced safety and operational flexibility.
