How to Select the Best Power Supply FAQ

The most critical specification to consider is the response speed, which is typically characterized by the amplifier's bandwidth or slew rate. To achieve a high-fidelity output waveform, it is essential to choose an amplifier with a bandwidth significantly greater than the frequency of your target signal.

As a general guideline:

  • For a sine wave, select a model with a bandwidth three to five times higher than the operating frequency.
  • For a square wave or a pulse signal, a bandwidth of at least ten times the signal's fundamental frequency is recommended. This is because these waveforms contain numerous high-frequency harmonics that are crucial for preserving their sharp edges and overall shape.
