Linear regulator benchtop DC power supplies rely on relatively simple circuits to convert an AC input into a DC output at a precise voltage. The linear regulator power supplies rely on a power transformer for voltage conversion, diodes for rectification (AC to DC conversion), and linear voltage regulators (and a feedback loop) that ensure that a consistent DC output is generated by the supply. These types of supplies tend to generate a lot of heat energy, so all Matsusada linear regulator power supplies are built for proper heat dissipation. The main benefit of linear regulator Benchtop DC power supplies is minimal ripple and noise in the output signal, making them ideal for sensitive operations where ultra-low noise signals are required. The relatively simple design combined with Matsusada's exceptional engineering makes these supplies both reliable and flexible.

Benchtop Type (Switching type) | Matsusada Precision
Matsusada offers two lines of high-accuracy linear regulator benchtop DC power supplies:

The high-power and high-resolution R4G/R4GN series have maximum output power ranging from 12 W to 180 W, making its operations scalable in several use cases. These supplies have both negative common and positive common variants. They offer high resolution, allowing for precise noise-free output control.

The low-power, lightweight (for a linear regulator), programmable R4GT series has maximum output power between 0.1 W and 7.2 W. The power supplies offer precise control over output current (in the factor of 10 μA), and the pulse and ramp action is a default feature.

The high-accuracy linear regulator DC power supplies are far less sophisticated compared to switching power supplies, and simpler circuits may also come with reduced costs. However, since they have to accommodate for heat dissipation since all the excess power between input and output is expelled as heat, they may have a larger form factor (for better ventilation) and additional cooling elements like heatsinks and fans. However, built-in fans are usually required for higher-power linear regulator supplies (over 108 W), and smaller ones can be quieter. The most significant electrical characteristics are its lack of noise in the output power and fast response, which makes it ideal for sensitive analog and RF circuits, biomedical instruments, precision-voltage reference, and other industrial, laboratory, testing, and research applications.
The benchtop linear regulator power supplies are designed to be placed on any flat surface without the need for mechanical anchoring or support.
