Non-destructive inspection is a method of performing inspections without destroying objects. It refers to the inspection of the performance, structure, and defects of an object without scratching or destroying that object.

Type Name Features
Internal inspections Radiographic inspection This method is used to detect the difference in penetration dose between normal parts and defective parts, by irradiating the object with X-rays and gamma rays. For more information about these products, see X-Ray Inspection Systems/X-Ray CT.
Ultrasonic inspection This method uses ultrasonic waves to detect defects in an object.
Surface inspections Magnetic particle inspection With this method, scratches on the surface of an object are detected by magnetizing the object and then collecting magnetic powder from the magnetic flux leakage that is generated from those scratches.
Liquid penetrant inspection A penetrating liquid is applied to an object. This method is used to detect the penetrating liquid that seeps into surface scratches.
Electromagnetic induction inspection With this method, eddy currents are induced by bringing a coil with a current flowing through it close to an object. The changes that occur in the eddy current due to scratches on the surface of the object are used for detection.
